A hidden gem in La Mesa Village, Bohemian-chic meets industrial in this casual yet elegant eatery. Part of the Cohen group of restaurants, BO-beau kitchen+garden offers a delightful array of farm-to-table dishes that will spawn an instant foodie out of anyone. I never knew I could like Brussel Sprouts until I was convinced to try their signature dish – they’re crazy good!
Aside from their amazing menu, BO-beau offers an incredibly unique space full of whimsical ambiance. Every part of the restaurant seems to open up to the quaint small-town bustle of La Mesa Village. From roll-up “garage” style doors inside the main dining room, to a series of self-stacking windows in the bar, to an beautifully curated garden-patio, the Cohen’s have kept true to the restaurant’s namesake, creating the quintessetial indoor-outdoor California dining experience. The staff even offered us throw pillows for extra back support when we sat out on the patio!
Insider tip: Go wash your hands before you eat! It may sound silly, but I feel you can tell a lot about a person (or place) based on how much thought they put into their restrooms. Les toillettes at BO-beau sont magnifique!
