DECA

Not only did this kitchen have to be aesthetically pleasing, every component also had to serve a functional purpose, as storage in this unit was very limited. We started by opening up the kitchen to the rest of the living space, making the unit feel much larger and brighter. Since our client loves to cook and entertain guests, we knew that this would become the most important room in the house. And it really needed to SHINE! Behind all of the custom Walnut cabinetry, there are unique storage solutions that would make any culinary artist’s mouth water! Multi-level sliding pullouts allow for spices to lie face up in a drawer where they can be quickly and easily identified. We opted for a slide-in cook top to allow pots, pans, and cooking utensils to be stored in spacious drawers directly below the cooking surface. The abundance of Walnut is then broken up nicely by a full slab of natural Macabaus Quartzite on the island counter. To contrast with the abundance of modern hard lines, we wanted to bring in some unexpected organic shapes and textures. The back splash along the perimeter wall is comprised of a wavy white porcelain tile. It creates movement and life in the space, mimicking the rapid flowing waters of a river. This wave element is repeated via the ultra-modern LED pendant suspended over the island.
